My key takeaways from three intensive webinars by the German Press Academy (DPRG) on the use of social media in corporate communications. Here are the practical tips I’d like to share with you:

1. Every Beginning Requires Strategy

Define your goals, target audiences, and messages before becoming active on social media channels.

2. Content is King

Always think from your own story, not from the channel!

3. Focus on quality

The content must be relevant to the target audience, the layout consistent, and the text clear, concise, and linguistically correct. ;- )

4. Post regularly

Find your own rhythm and align it with your resources. Quality over quantity, but maintain consistency!

5. Follow the algorithm rules

Tailor your content for each platform and pay attention to the details: use hashtags, vary your formats, and tag other people or channels.

6. Be active in community management

Social media is all about interaction. Be personal and respond promptly and openly to feedback—especially, and even more so, when it’s negative.

7. Question Yourself and Be Flexible

Regularly analyze key metrics like reach, engagement rate, or conversion rate. Use this knowledge to optimize your activities.
